Carlton ground 1978 our first school sports was held. This was the idea, hard work and

persistence of one man. The man whose name our sports day carries today.

Mr. Tyrone Small

Mr. Small as known to most of us was not only the architect of our sports day but the biggest contributor and donator over the years. He was again the person instrumental in the school having medals each year, programmes and, though not with us today, having the sports live recorded to be posted on YouTube.

Mr. Small was the commentator.

Mr. Small was the tabulator.

Mr. Small was the judge.

Mr. Small was the cheerleader.

Mr. Small wanted all 4 houses to win but most of all he just wanted to see happy faces.

After moving to Canada in 2001, he missed a few sports days but was always present in some way.

He would wake me up early on the morning of sports and say start on time. He would also

request updates and pictures throughout the day . An hour or so after sports had concluded, rest assured the website would be furnished with results.

Mr. Small passed on October 6th 2024. Those of you who met him know of his sudden

appearances, impromptu conversation or infectious smile which brought joy to persons around him. Today is the first sports day without Mr. Small but although busy in heaven, he will find time to look down on us gleefully.

May his memory continue to loom largely among us.
